School Meals Programme

The DES has issued an updated guidance note including FAQs on what schools should and need to do to make sure pupils have continued access to school meals during school closures including the Easter holiday period. It is considered an ‘essential service’. To facilitate this HSCL and SCP staff have been contacted by TESS and asked to liaise with school principals where they currently work to maintain this service. It is considered to be travelling for work purposes. Volunteers assisting with the School Meals Programme are also covered.

NCSE - Useful Tips

In addition to the normal supports, the NCSE is providing online resources for children with Special Educational Needs who are at home as a result of the schools’ closure.

The following materials have been developed by Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language Therapists. More resources will be added in the coming days.

DES - Emergency Closurers & Sub Payments

DES – Emergency Closures & Sub Payments (incl. Approved Leave)The DES has issued an information note to schools advising:

  • There is no requirement to record the government directed school closure
  • Claims for substitutes are to be input as normal i.e. Where a substitute was scheduled to work in the period of the school closure
  • Substitute claims cannot be entered in advance on OLCS
  • Scheduled leave absences which have already been recorded on the OLCS cannot be deleted/amended as a result of the government direction to close schools
  • Scheduled leave absences which have not yet been recorded on OLCS and which have been sanctioned by the BoM should continue to be recorded on OLCS
