New Boards of Management - Composition, Appointment & Functioning

The DES has issued the revised and updated Governance Manual for Primary Schools 2019 – 2023 with the pending appointment of new Boards of Management from 1 December 2019. The updated provisions govern the composition, appointment and functioning of Boards.
Appendix A of the manual provides guidance on the election process of teacher representatives to the Board of Management.
Appendix, D, E and H relating to the recruitment and appointment of principals, teachers and SNAs is not listed in the new manual. The DES has issued separate guidance on these procedures in circulars:
