School Leadership: Challenges & Opportunities
IPPN hosted our first virtual Deputy Principals' Conference on November 12th. Over 500 registered attendees accessed this event. This event had a number of keynote speakers who will help you engage in ways that you, as a Deputy Principal and school leader, view the challenges and opportunities within your role. The key topics discussed:
- Middle Leadership - Professor Finn Ó Murchú, Mary Immaculate College – Conversations on middle leadership in primary schools
- Diversity and Inclusion in Irish Primary Schools - Dr. Naomi Masheti, Co-ordinator of the Cork Migrant Centre & Dr Niall Muldoon, Ombudsman for Children
- Irish Language Education - Professor Pádraig Ó Duibhir, Deputy Dean, DCU Institute of Education - Irish language education & exemptions
- Special Educational Needs - Mary McGrath, Head of Operations, NCSE – The SEN allocation model and practical guidance for school leaders on managing SEN and behaviours of concern
