Colma Nic Lughadha - National Coordinator, Children & Young People's Services Committees
Colma has a background in health promotion, youth and community development and education programme management, particularly within under resourced communities. She has worked across the education lifecycle including primary, secondary, third level and adult and community education to promote equality of opportunity and improve educational outcomes for children and young people, adults and families. A strong emphasis of her work has been to develop participative structures and lead multi-sectoral and interagency collaborations to achieve system change.
As National Co-ordinator for Children and Young People’s Services Committees (CYPSC) in Ireland and based at the Centre for Effective Services Colma works closely with the Department of Children and Youth Affairs to support the national implementation of Children and Young People’s Services Committees. These committees are being established in every county in Ireland. They are interagency structures that plan and co-ordinate services for children and young people in order to improve outcomes for all children and young people in the county. Her primary responsibilities include providing leadership to Children and Young People’s Services Committees at national level and support to the Committees at local county level across Ireland.
