When to refer a teacher or SNA to Medmark
Non-discretionary referral to Occupational Health Service (Medmark) for teachers and SNAs by Boards of Management has been revised in DES Circular 0004/2013 - Occupational Health Strategy for Registered Teachers and Special Needs Assistants.  The new changes will be introduced on a phased basis over a two year period.  These include:

Changes being introduced from 1st February 2013
Teachers – Any teacher on sick leave who has 4 weeks continuous or 12 weeks cumulative sick leave in a 12 month rolling period must be referred to Medmark
SNAs - Any SNA on sick leave who has 4 weeks continuous or 8 weeks cumulative sick leave in a 12 month rolling period must be referred to Medmark.

Changes being introduced from 1st January 2014
Teachers – Any teacher who has 4 weeks continuous or cumulative sick leave absence in a 12 month rolling period must be referred to Medmark
SNAs – Any SNA who has 4 weeks continuous or cumulative sick leave in a 12 month rolling period must be referred to Medmark
