Your School & The Law – 27th March 2010
The final ‘Your School & The Law’ seminar will take place on Saturday 27th March from 9.00am – 4.00pm in the Ormond Hotel, Kilkenny. The seminar provides attendees with a unique opportunity to learn and apply education and employment law in a school context. Topics that will be covered include:
• Enrolment – Policy, Procedures and Section 29 Appeals
• Employment – Recruitment & Contracts
• Disciplinary Issues – Procedures, Unfair Dismissal Acts, Harassment & Bullying

Deputy Principals’ Conference – Dates For Your Diary
The two-day Deputy Principals’ Conference will be held at Citywest Hotel & Convention Centre, Dublin from 5.00pm Thursday 13th to 3.30pm Friday 14th May. Full details including speaker list will be published on www.ippn.ie before the weekend.
Haiti Children & Schools – IPPN Fundraiser
Over €40,000 has been fundraised by primary schools across the country to provide relief for the victims of the Haiti earthquake. IPPN has distributed these funds to Trocaire, the Louise Ivers Fund and to the Haven Project. The money will be used by these organisations to assist children and to re-build and equip primary schools that were devastated by the earthquake. Cheques continue to arrive at our support office from schools and we will continue to allocate your donations until the end of this school year.
Swine Flu Vaccination
The HSE swine flu vaccination programme for school children will end on the 31st March 2010. However, the HSE recommends that hygiene awareness continues in order to prevent the possible spread of this and other infections in schools. Information on best practice in the prevention of infection in schools is provided via an information sheet through DES Circular 27/2010.
