One of the biggest challenges facing school leaders and their boards is staff management – from appointment procedures to dealing with underperformance and everything in between. IPPN will present a one-day management seminar entitled ‘Your School & Staff Management’ for Principals and Board of Management members covering a variety of staff management-related topics including:
• Recruitment, redeployment panel, staff contracts – best practice
• Underperforming Teachers – correct procedures – Circular 60/2009
• Leading a school community – effective leadership styles and successful strategies.
The seminar will take place on 26th March, Citywest Hotel, Dublin.
Deputy Principals’ Conference 2011
Please note that our annual Deputy Principals’ Conference will take place in Citywest Hotel, Dublin. The conference will begin on Thursday 19th May at 5.00pm and finish on Friday 20th May at 4.30pm. Full details of keynote speakers and workshops will be circulated within the next two weeks. You will be notified by text message and by email.
Meeting with INTO
IPPN met with INTO to discuss the probation of Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs). We were reassured by the INTO leadership that they agreed with our perspective (see previous e-scéal) and share our concerns regarding the impact of any additional roles that may be delegated to Principals by the DES, both in terms of workload and change of relationship between the Principal and teaching staff.
Correction
The e-scéal issued regarding ‘Whole School Hours’ referred inadvertently to ‘37’ whole school hours. The correct figure should read ‘36’.
