E-scéal 285 - SnowClear de-icer Salt – who knew?
- Published: 25 November 2011
We are delighted to announce that our partnership with Clearwater Technology Ltd for the supply of a group offer on de-icer salt to schools is proving very successful. Orders are being delivered to schools across the country every day.
Drawing from feedback received to the Support Office on the use of various types of de-icers, we realised that 'not all salt is made equally'! When finding a product suitable for schools’ needs; we defined the product requirements as follows:
1. Pure white salt - Reports from last year were that brown salt was staining cement and these stains were impossible to remove
2. The correct consistency so that it would spread easily and not be blown away by the wind - The correct salt prill size of 2-4mm is very important for anti-icing
3. High grade product - SnowClear is 98-99% pure. Some of the salts being supplied are as low as 80% and can as a result be corrosive on cement etc
4. The correct moisture content for easy distribution - Some salts contain too much moisture resulting in leaking bags of salt
5. Contains an added anti-caking agent - This ensures that the product is free-flowing and spreadable and will not go rock hard in the bag.
Clearwater Technology’s Snowclear de-icer product fulfilled the above criteria, coming out on top for quality, price, delivery and service. Their product is of aviation quality and the standard used by Irish rail, Irish airports and other government bodies.
We believe that IPPN’s group offer represents excellent value for money on product quality, delivery and service. The cost quoted also includes delivery to schools at a time that is convenient to you.
