Planning Prompts
This time of year has to be the busiest period in what has been an extremely busy year. However, I would urge you to look at some of the planning prompts in relation to work schedule for the summer. This type of work needs to be delegated to ensure that all does not fall to you for the summer. The Board of Management has a major role to play in this. If possible, devote a little time to these considerations this week and discuss with the Chairperson prior to the next BoM meeting. Read More....
Seeking short stories for Leadership+ Issue 100
If you would like to contribute a short story (max 250 words) to IPPN for consideration for publication in Issue 100, please email it to Geraldine.darcy@ippn.ie by Friday 16th June. Editors will pay particular attention to contributions that are relevant to IPPN and to school leadership. Please note we will have space for 3-4 stories but will do our best to publish all items in future issues.
Post Graduate Diploma in School Leadership
The CSL Team would like to urge all school leaders to bring this information to the attention of their staff. There is a responsibility on every school principal to encourage others to consider leadership and to develop leadership capacity in those we work with on a daily basis.

In partnership with IPPN, NAPD and the DES, the CSL Post Graduate Diploma in School Leadership (PDSL) was officially launched in UL on May 5th. The programme will be jointly awarded by the University of Limerick, the National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG) including St Angela’s and University College Dublin. Additional academic support for the programme will be provided by Waterford Institute of Technology with delivery support from Cork Institute of Technology and Association of Teachers’ Education Centres in Ireland The programme is a part-time 18 months blended learning professional diploma, delivered locally in six regional locations throughout the country with provision in Irish in NUIG.
The course will include a short period of work placement in a school other than the participant’s own and in a setting outside of education. Fees support for this programme will be provided by the DES and the cost to participants will be €2,000. The course will be open to approximately 200 participants annually.

Main redeployment Panel 2017/2018
The DES have provided an update on the Main Redeployment panel as of Wednesday, 31st May 2017. There are currently 2 permanent teachers on the Main Panel awaiting redeployment.
Supplementary Panel 2017/2018
Circular 0074/2016 Panel access for fixed-term/temporary (this includes substitute) and part-time teachers to the Supplementary Redeployment Panel for the 2017/18 school year – provides information in relation to the Supplementary Panel for the 2017/18 school year.

If you are advertising a post for the Supplementary Panel on EducationPosts.ie please refer to Part 3 - Advertising a Post to be filled from the Supplementary Panel of the appending FAQ Document to Circular 0074/2016 prior to uploading your advert. Section 3.1.3 provides specific wording that needs to be used by schools when seeking an expression of interest from teachers on the Supplementary Panel.
