Planning Prompts

This time of year has to be the busiest period in what has been an extremely busy year. The last thing on your mind at this time is probably your own self-care. I will address these self-care issues in the Planning Prompts of next week’s E-scéal.
However, I would urge you to look at some of this week’s Planning Prompts in relation to work schedule for the summer. This type of work needs to be delegated to ensure that all does not fall to you for the holiday period. Read more.....




IPPN Principal & Deputy Principal Blended Summer course - Donegal

IPPN are extremely eager to bring the blended Summer Course to Donegal Town this July, aiming to serve our members in Donegal and the surrounding counties. A minimum number of attendees is required for this course to proceed. We are currently slightly under the minimum numbers, therefore we would appreciate your support in choosing this course as your summer course.

Deputy Principals in Donegal and the surrounding counties are also welcome to attend this course. The course commences the week beginning Monday 3rd July – the first two days are allowing for 8 hours of online content to be viewed at your own convenience at any time throughout the two days. The remaining three days – Wednesday 5th, Thursday 6th and Friday 7th July – will take place in Donegal Education Centre, Donegal Town from 9.30am to 3pm each day.

This course qualifies for 3 EPV days.

Supplementary Panel 2017/2018
Circular 0074/2016 Panel access for fixed-term/temporary (this includes substitute) and part-time teachers to the Supplementary Redeployment Panel for the 2017/18 school year – provides information in relation to the Supplementary Panel for the 2017/18 school year.

If you are advertising a post for the Supplementary Panel on EducationPosts.ie you need to refer to Part 3 - Advertising a Post to be filled from the Supplementary Panel of the appending FAQ Document to Circular 0074/2016 prior to uploading the advert. Section 3.1.3 provides specific wording that needs to be used by schools when seeking an expression of interest from teachers on the Supplementary Panel.
If the required text is not included within the advert, the advert will be deleted and you will be sent an email from EducationPosts.ie advising that you need to upload a new advert with the correct information.




Study - Educational Needs amongst Children Experiencing Homelessness

Dr. Geraldine Scanlon and Grainne McKenna are
conducting a study which seeks to examine the
educational needs amongst children experiencing
homelessness living in emergency accommodation.
The study will involve a number of stakeholders including
parents, educational professionals and agencies who
support families who are currently homeless and living in
emergency accommodation in the Dublin area.
This study is funded by the Children's Rights Alliance and
has received ethical approval from the Research Ethics
Committee at Dublin City University.
