Planning Prompts

This time of the year is just so busy with a seemingly endless list of things to do before the end of the school year. For some of you, the holidays will start on Friday and for others, Friday week will see you drawing a deep breath again. For many more of our colleagues, retirement will bring a new phase to their lives. Congratulations on all you have achieved for your school over the years and I wish you every blessing in the years ahead. Read more...

IPPN Headstart 2017
An Induction Day for Newly Appointed Principals.

This induction will take place on Wednesday 16th August in the CityWest Hotel in Saggart, Co. Dublin. It is designed to prepare new principals for the first week, month and year of their appointments and is open to those appointed from 1st January 2017 onwards. This event is facilitated as part of the school’s membership of IPPN and does not present any additional charge for attendance to either the school or the principal attending the event.

If there are plans for the principal to move school or retire this year, the BoM Chairperson might ensure that the new principal is made aware of this event.

TextaParent.ie - New App coming soon

We are delighted to announce that work on our new Textaparent.ie App is coming along nicely.

Your TextaParent.ie app will be available for both Apple and Android devices, working alongside your existing TextaParent.ie account. We hope that the App will dramatically reduce IPPN memebers costs for sending messages to parents and staff.

Droichead 2017 – Your Feedback to us

Sincere thanks to the 600 principals who responded to our consultation on the revised Droichead process. IPPN is now in a better position to clarify school leaders’ reaction to Droichead 2017 to the key stakeholders. The consultation tells us that exactly three quarters of those surveyed ‘would not sign up for Droichead’ and that the vast majority (87%) would be 'more likely to employ a fully-probated teacher than a non-probated NQT owing to Droichead.' There is a wide variety of opinion expressed in comments. We are analysing these detailed responses as well as the statistical information, and both of these will inform a revised position paper on Droichead. We will bring the revised position paper to the attention of the Teaching Council, the DES and the INTO and will keep you informed when there is an update.
