Irish Principal & Deputy Principal Health and Wellbeing Survey
IPPN, and our sister organisation at post-primary level, the National Association of Principal and Deputy Principals (NAPD), are the professional bodies for school leaders in Ireland. We seek to support and empower you with the provision of supports and services but we are also committed to ensuring that you have more time and space to maintain a focus on your core purpose of leading teaching and learning.
NEW - Resource Bundle Update
In a recent letter to school principals from Deirdre Shanley, Assistant Secretary on 1 February 2022, the following updates were outlined:
- Extension of Antigen Testing to Special Classes and Special School settings
- Confirmatory PCR for children
- Public Health Risk Assessment in Special Class and Special School settings
- HSE live Covid-19 Principal Helpline
Class Allocation
Class allocation can be one of the most challenging issues facing principals every year. Given the major challenges presented by Covid-19, it is likely to result in heightened anxiety among staff around this issue. The principal must weigh the options carefully, bearing in mind the wishes of teachers, the needs of the school or a particular class and other information particular to a school situation which may influence decisions.
Stronger Together, The Importance of Principal Support Groups
As school leaders, we spend a lot of time supporting others. We support staff through challenging personal situations and we support pupils and their parents/guardians through the many trials and tribulations that life brings. In turn it must recognised that school leaders also need support.
Draft Primary Curriculum Framework
NCCA is hosting online focus groups for 30 participants until the end of February 2022 on the proposals in the Draft Primary Curriculum Framework.
