IPPN Principals’ Conference 2022 - Accommodation Cancellation
Further to recent correspondence regarding the IPPN Principals’ Conference, you may have seen that a number of high profile events due to take place in Citywest Hotel have been cancelled. IPPN is still awaiting formal confirmation from Citywest that the venue is unavailable for the IPPN conference, which was due to take place later this month. However, IPPN has been advised that our event and all associated reservations at the hotel and the convention centre must be cancelled.

Summer Programme Noticeboard
The ‘Summer Programme Noticeboard for Teachers/SNAs’ has been updated on EducationPosts.ie. The noticeboard can be used by teachers and SNAs to advertise their availability for the programme. Parents can now also post notices on the board to source suitable candidates.

Leadership+ Issue 122: Wellbeing of Principals in Small Schools
During my Masters programme, I examined many policies, programmes and guidelines for wellbeing in schools. I became increasingly frustrated with the lack of attention to staff wellbeing in these frameworks, particularly the wellbeing of those tasked with leading these initiatives in schools. In Andy Hargreaves’ words, ‘no credible strategy on student wellbeing can ignore teacher or principal wellbeing’.

Teacher Artist Partnership 2022
The DE has announced registration for the 2022 face-to-face Teacher Artist Partnership (TAP). The DE approved CPD summer course and residency programme for primary teachers, under the Creative Youth Programme will take place from Monday, 4 July to Friday, 8 July 2022. TAP is a free course with EPV day approval & opportunities for participating teachers to apply for a face-to-face in-school Residency in their school in 2022/2023 academic year.

Summer Works Programme
The Minister for Education announced a €40 Million fund for a summer education programme for pupils with complex special educational needs and those at greatest risk of educational disadvantage for summer 2022. The DE has advised that there is added flexibility for schools this year to ease the administrative requirements.

External Research: Teachers’ Mindset and Approaches to Classroom Assessment
Joanne Malone, who manages the Education Innovation Fund at Rethink Ireland, which invests in not-for-profit organisations aiming to tackle educational disadvantage in Ireland, is undertaking research at Kellogg College, University of Oxford to explore Irish primary school teachers’ beliefs about learning and approaches to classroom assessment. As part of this research, she is asking teachers to complete an online survey, which should take 15-20 minutes to complete.
