Resource Bundle: Communication – The Lifeblood of Leadership

School leaders need to be skilled communicators in countless relationships with many different groups and individuals within the school community. Within the school context, many problems can be directly traced to ineffective or insufficient communication – its content, manner and means. Update on Counselling and Wellbeing Practitioner teams pilot

NEPS recently held a briefing for the education partners on the work of Strands 1 and 2 of the pilot project. From the initial €5 million announced in the Budget, the pilot was extended into 2024 and further extended into 2025.

It was an initial challenge for Strand 1 to recruit a panel of counsellors to work with schools. NEPS collaborated with the counselling accreditation bodies in Ireland to get as many counsellors as possible onto the panel.

Consultation on the Primary Curriculum closes on June 7th

NCCA is holding a consultation on curriculum in the following areas:

  • Arts Education
  • Modern Foreign Languages, as part of the Primary Language Curriculum
  • Science, Technology and Engineering Education  
  • Social and Environmental Education
  • Wellbeing.

The consultation closes on 7th June at 5pm. You can still have your say by completing the online questionnaires or a written submission. The draft curriculum documents, questionnaires and written submission forms can be found on NCCA’s consultation webpage.

 

Leadership+ Pilot Group Mentoring Programme for Newly Appointed Deputy Principals

The objective of the pilot is to afford newly appointed deputy principals (DPs) the opportunity to hear and talk about the experience of the practice of leadership in the company of peers.

The pilot will be comprised of four groups of relatively newly-appointed deputy principals who are participating in the Tánaiste programme. The groups are linked to specific education centres where the Tánaiste programme is running.
