Often we become anxious about missing important information around deadlines or issues of compliance. Information comes to us from many different sources and accessing that information takes time. The weekly E-scéal – issued every Thursday between 3pm and 3.30pm - is a one-stop shop for all a school leader needs to manage and lead the school over the coming week. We suggest that the principal and deputy principal might make a habit of opening the E-scéal together each Thursday and identify some areas needing attention for the coming week.

Survey on Teacher Vacancies
On Monday, 30 September INTO, in conjunction with the CPSMA and IPPN, will issue a survey to schools, as a follow-up to the survey in Sep 2023. The survey will establish the level of permanent, fixed-term and long-term substitute posts in primary and special schools and will close on Monday, 7 October. We would appreciate your participation in this important research.

EducationPosts.ie Recruitment Portal
More than 400 schools have used the online recruitment portal to advertise vacancies. Feedback from principals, chairpersons and independent assessors has been excellent.

Feedback from Independent Assessor, Dublin Region
‘As a former Chairperson, Principal and now engaged with the recruitment process as an Independent Assessor, I would like to strongly recommend the Recruitment Portal through EducationPosts.ie, which I have worked with over the last couple of months. Once each member of the Selection Board has been identified by the portal, the process becomes so much easier to navigate for all members. The number of phone calls with updates are reduced, as updates are automatically sent, the process is extremely open and transparent for members of the panel and the candidates who have applied.
I believe there is great accountability through use of the platform. Having read the excellent GDPR guidelines which were issued at the commencement of the process, I felt further reassured that this platform was very safe, effective and a fantastic resource for the recruitment of teachers and other members of the school community. I highly commend the IPPN for providing such a tremendous asset to be used for recruitment purposes. Maith sibh!’
