Planning Prompts
Now that the first month of the school year has passed, you might take a few moments to reflect on all that has happened. You inevitably think of all the things you never got round to doing, however much you achieved.

As you prioritise and plan for the next few weeks, give credit to staff for that good work, give yourself credit for your part in leading it. Take care of yourself and your staffby modelling the behaviours that promote a culture of self-care and wellbeing.

Professional Guidance – Parental Complaints
What if the Parental Complaints Procedure has been exhausted and parents still are unhappy with the outcome and behave inappropriately towards the teacher and/or the principal?

Procedures cannot replace positive relations. Parental complaints, staff relations and/or grievance procedures may be invoked where one individual feels unhappy with the conduct or behaviour of another. While procedures are the agreed mechanisms for resolving conflict, occasionally individuals misunderstand their purpose.

Consequently, the motives and the way procedures are conducted significantly impacts the outcome.
