Developing IPPN’s next Strategic Plan

We have begun the process of developing IPPN’s next strategic plan. We are anxious that all members will have their voices heard as part of the consultation process. In next week’s e-scéal you will be able to access a short survey where you will have the opportunity to share your perspectives on our current work and what our priority areas of focus should be in the coming years. We encourage all members to engage with the survey.

Planning Prompts

School leaders are called upon to make decisions every day. Sometimes the fear of making a decision that is not perfect can add much stress to our daily lives. It is sufficient to make “good enough” decisions to reduce the pressure of perfectionism, regain focus and improve mental wellbeing.

Ask yourself right now what is important, what is urgent and what can wait for another time. Most things can wait.

25 Years of IPPN - Interviews with IPPN Presidents 2000 to 2025

In this interview, IPPN past president Pat Goff interviews Damian White, IPPN President 2019 to 2021. These interviews provide an exceptionally rich oral history of the organisation in its first quarter century.

Leadership+ Issue 136 – Seanie our therapy dog

Marge O’Brien

Schools are more than places of learning—they are communities where emotional growth, connection, and well-being are just as important as academic achievement. Recognising this, our school is thrilled to introduce our VIP (Very Important Puppy): Seanie, our School Therapy Dog.

Bred for his intelligence, temperament, and hypoallergenic curly coat, Seanie is uniquely suited to support children with diverse needs. From offering comfort to students experiencing anxiety to providing companionship during tough days, his presence enriches the lives of everyone in our school.

Be Well, Lead Well

Tip #13 HSE - Talking Health & Wellbeing Podcast

In this episode, HSE Senior Psychologist Peadar Maxwell talks about the concept of "mind clutter"; those overwhelming thoughts and distractions that often lead to stress, anxiety, and difficulty concentrating. The conversation explores practical strategies for managing mental clutter, including mindfulness, visualisation, journaling, and prioritising self-care practices. Peadar emphasises the importance of making “good enough” decisions to reduce the pressure of perfectionism to help people regain focus and improve their mental wellbeing.
