Banking Substitute Days

The DE has confirmed that the practice of ‘banking hours’ when a substitute teacher could not be sourced, was a once off measure of last resort in the context of the challenges involved last year. This will not continue for the 2021/2022 school year. The DE has advised that schools can access substitution through the normal sequence which will be published in a circular setting out the supports for primary schools for this year. It is expected that a circular will issue shortly.
