Student Teachers – 5 day Rule
- Published: 27 January 2022
Enactment of amendments to the 2016 Teaching Council Registration Regulations was signed on 21 December 2021 which provides for the registration of student teachers on concurrent programmes of accredited Initial Teacher Education who have completed two years of those programmes. The process of registering student teachers is currently in progress by the Teaching Council. The 5-day rule continues to apply to this cohort of teachers until receipt of their Teaching Council Number. IPPN has sought an update on the progress of this project from the Teaching Council based on the impact that it is having on school leaders in filling substitute teaching vacancies in schools.
