At the start of the 2022/2023 school year, the DEIS programme will be extended to additional schools using the refined DEIS identification model as having the highest levels of educational disadvantage. Schools that were not identified for inclusion in the programme or not identified for reclassification to DEIS Urban and Band 1 status, can submit an appeal to the DE.  Details of two main criteria for submitting an appeal are included in DE Circular 19/2022.   Schools who wish to appeal the outcome of the application of the DEIS identification model to their school enrolment data must inform Social Inclusion Unit, Department of Education at social_inclusion@education.gov.ie using the form at Appendix 1 of circular. This form and the updated information on the POD and PPOD systems must be received in the DE by 5pm on Friday 29 April to be considered.
