Coughlan heckled during INTO address [Businessworld.ie]

Minister for Education Mary Coughlan has been heckled during an address at the Irish National Teachers' Organisation (INTO) annual congress in Salthill in Galway this morning.

The Tanaiste told delegates that the country would have to spend less on public services in the foreseeable future.

“We have more to do to fully stabilise our public finances; and as you all know, a further €3 billion of adjustment will be required in the next budget,” she said.

At yesterday's opening session of the conference, INTO president Maire Ni Chuinneagain said the Government is forcing workers to bail out "an elite band of so far untouchable financial joyriders".
