Longford parents "pushed to brink" as back to school costs mount up [longfordleader.ie]

Soaring back to school costs are driving scores of Longford parents to the brink of financial ruin just weeks before thousands of schoolchildren are due to return to their desks.
A number of angry parents spoke to the Leader this week about many of the hidden extra costs that have pushed them to the point of financial disaster.

James Connors, whose daughter Anna attends Ballinalee's Scoil Samhthann said he could not be sure exactly how much he was expected to fork out ahead of the new school term.

Standing in the Leader's offices last Friday evening, Mr Connors said the added spectre of further hikes in next December's budget had only added to the sense of desperation among parents.
