We need united schools' lobby [belfasttelegraph.co.uk]

Schools closing, buildings in disrepair, bus runs curtailed, nursery and creche facilities soaring in cost and special needs neglected. Hello? Is anyone out there listening?

The Education Minister, John O'Dowd, has initiated a viability audit of all schools.

Unfortunately, the minister offers no indication as to where he intends taking his audit exercise.

The only certain outcome appears to be schools closing down and property becoming unfit for purpose. Is it not time, in the best interests of the pupils, that politicians joined with parents and teachers across the country to agree, as near as possible, a 'whole of Northern Ireland' approach?
