IPPN Leadership Award 2016

Nominations are now welcome for the IPPN Leadership Award 2017.
This Award will honour and recognise a school leader who demonstrates exceptional leadership qualities
and influences others through their actions. Current primary school principals and deputy principals are eligible for nomination.

Minor works grant for primary schools

€28.5m minor works grant announced for primary schools.
The rates payable are €5,500 per school plus €18.50 per mainstream pupil and €74 per special needs pupil. The grant is worth €6,425 for a 50 pupil school and over €11,000 for a 300 pupil school.

Master’s thesis on Sacramental Preparation in Irish primary schools

Niamh Galligan of Dunboyne JPS, Co Meath is completing her Masters of Education (School Leadership) in NUI Maynooth. Her research thesis is on religious education in Irish primary schools, specifically sacramental preparation. She will also explore the response(s) made by Catholic schools to diversity in terms of religious instruction. Niamh is looking for a primary school, with a Catholic ethos in the Dublin/Meath/Kildare area which has explored the opportunities for sacramental preparation outside the traditional daily 30 minutes.
