Ongoing Advocacy
IPPN is continuing to ensure that a focus is maintained on issues that are affecting the practice of leadership in our primary schools. Specifically, the focus has been on the sustainability of school leadership and the impact of teacher and substitute shortages on continuity of provision to children.
Professional Guidance – Wellbeing
At this particular time of year, worries and anxieties often leave people in a vulnerable state. It may be opportune to discuss with staff the supports and services available to them under the Employee Assistance Service provided by Spectrum Life. Posters with contact details are available to download for the staff room on the website.
EducationPosts.ie - Automatic Approval Reminder
Existing Accounts:
Adverts activate automatically on the system after approximately 30 minutes and are published on the website according to the chosen ‘Requested Activation Date’. Adverts uploaded when the office is closed (e.g. weekends, Christmas holidays) are automatically activated by the system.
Membership Renewal 2022/2023
If membership has not already been renewed, this is a reminder for your Board of Management to renew IPPN membership for the 2022/2023 school year by Tuesday, 3 January 2022. After this date, a number of key supports and services will no longer be available to the principal and deputy principal.

Principals’ Conference 2022
IPPN’s Annual Principals’ Conference & Education Expo 2022 took place in INEC Gleneagle, Killarney on Wednesday, November 16 to Friday November 1. Approximately 1,000 members and 150 guests attended the event, with more than 110 exhibitors showcasing their products and services in the 2022 Education Expo.

Schools & Cost of Living
The Minister for Education has announced an additional capitation payment, approximately 40 per cent increase in current capitation rate payments for this academic year. This once-off payment will be paid to schools before the end of the current school term.
Leadership+ Issue 125: Opening a Special Class – The 3Ps
Many schools have opened, or are in the process of opening, special classes for ASD in their schools. Eleven years ago, we began this journey in our school, one of steep learning and great joy in equal measure, as we considered the effectiveness of provision for pupils with complex learning needs.
School Grants Calendar
School finances are a topic of discussion at this time of year as schools wait for the next DE payment. FSSU has published a primary grants calendar for the 2022/2023 school year. It can be viewed HERE
Action Plan on Bullying
Cineáltas: Action Plan on Bullying has been published by the DE. This landmark new Action Plan is dedicated to the prevention and addressing of bullying, cyber bullying, racism, gender identity bullying or sexual harassment in schools. EPSEN Review Image
Minister of State for Special Education and Inclusion, Josepha Madigan announced public consultation as part of the review process of the EPSEN Act. The consultation period will continue until spring 2023. Ongoing updates will be posted on gov.ie/epsenreview. Members will be surveyed and the findings used to influence IPPN’s submission to the review group.
