DES – Emergency Closures & Sub Payments (incl. Approved Leave)The DES has issued an information note to schools advising:

  • There is no requirement to record the government directed school closure
  • Claims for substitutes are to be input as normal i.e. Where a substitute was scheduled to work in the period of the school closure
  • Substitute claims cannot be entered in advance on OLCS
  • Scheduled leave absences which have already been recorded on the OLCS cannot be deleted/amended as a result of the government direction to close schools
  • Scheduled leave absences which have not yet been recorded on OLCS and which have been sanctioned by the BoM should continue to be recorded on OLCS

Irish Water

Irish Water is reporting a high demand for water supplies. They are seeking school assistance with water conservation during school closures. They are requesting that schools take the following steps:

  • Turn-off all non-essential water services – e.g. automatic flushing of urinals
  • Check for and report leaks to 1850 278 278

 

FSSU - Guidance Note

FSSU - A Guidance Note was issued addressing 4 key financial issues in primary schools during Covid-19. These include:

  • Caretaking, secretarial, cleaning and other staff should only be in the school as necessary
  • It is important that absences such as maternity leave etc. are keyed into the OLCS payroll system to facilitate continued payment of salary
  •  All Board of Management employees should be paid during this period of school closure
  • Payroll systems can accommodate the forward input and processing of wages.

 

IPPN & NPC Joint Statement on School Closures due to COVID-19 measures

During these unprecedented times, IPPN and NPC are in agreement that a mutually supportive partnership in local school communities between school and home will be critical to supporting children’s education in the coming weeks, during mandated school closures.
