Rural transport plan sent to Government
A PLAN to merge existing public transport systems in rural areas to save money has been presented to the Government by the Rural Transport Network.
The plan suggests pooling schemes including the free travel pass, the school transport scheme, non-ambulance transport from the Health Service Executive and other CIÉ systems with the rural network.

Publishers should cut the cost of schoolbooks, says TUI
SCHOOLBOOK publishers should be in a position to cut prices because rising student numbers mean more sales, the Teachers’ Union of Ireland has claimed.
Some of the biggest firms made commitments to limit new editions and keep older versions of books in print following a meeting in June with Education Minister Ruairi Quinn.
